Purpose
Saints Healthcare Foundation exists to support the St. Francis Regional Medical Center and St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center. The Foundation’s mission is the assure resources exist to meet the health care needs of our community. As part of its mission, Saints Healthcare Foundation grants funds to St. Francis and St. Gertrude’s based upon the following guidelines.
Applicant eligibility
- Senior management of the St. Gertrude’s and St. Francis organizations.
- Managers of St. Gertrude’s and St. Francis, with senior manager approval.
- Employees of St. Gertrude’s and St. Francis, with manager and senior manager approval.
Grant approval process
- Grants for $5,000 or less are approved by the CEO/Presidents of St. Francis, St. Gertrude’s and the Foundation Executive Director on an as needed basis.
- Grants in excess of $5,000 must be approved by the Foundation Board during its regularly scheduled board meetings.
- Grants in excess of $5,000 may be approved under timing emergencies by the Officers of the Foundation Board.
Fund disbursement
Funds are paid to St. Gertrude’s and St. Francis upon submission of receipts documenting completion of the approved project. Grant funds are deposited into the cost center from which grant-supported expenditures were paid or another cost center per instructions of the grantee.
Review criteria
- The Foundation has funds to support the project request.
- Sufficient funds exist also in light of other emerging projects of higher priority.
- The project is determined to be an institutional priority based upon executive approval.
- The need for the project is compelling.
- The project plan is well defined, realistic and likely to be accomplished.
- The project has a plan for sustainability and was not funded previously.
- Project timeline – both start and end date – are defined and realistic.
- The cost of the project is appropriate for the project’s stated impact.
- Applicant has demonstrated success completing similar projects.
